Volunteering at Bene
Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do, particularly when it comes to bringing greater joy and fulfillment to our senior communities. You’ll also gain new skills and experiences to further your professional development, plus become a part of Bene’s diverse family, forming memorable friendships and connections while sharing your skills and passions with others.
At Bene, we consider volunteering to be a deep expression of love, care and concern for each other. The invaluable contributions of our volunteers to the quality care and services that we provide enable Bene communities to enjoy a better life through social, intellectual and emotional interaction that fosters social connectedness and a zest for life.
This film was produced in partnership with the Flinders University Community Voices Program.

We value our volunteers, and work as a team
The respect and regard that we attach to our volunteers ensure you will be treated as a valued member of our team, working alongside our staff to enhance Bene’s quality care and service offerings. We also operate under the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement which means you will be provided with orientation, on the job training and supervision, and assistance to obtain a Police Clearance before commencing your volunteering role.
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life across all ages, and have a wide range of volunteering opportunities in our residential care homes and our lifestyle and wellness services. If you have a passion for volunteering that you would like to share with Bene, we invite you to talk to us about how we can best apply your skills and experience.
Intergenerational volunteering
At Bene, we believe in the mutual exchange of skills, experiences and friendship that is fostered by intergenerational connections. We welcome younger volunteers and value their unique skills and fresh perspectives on life that enhance the lives of older people in our communities. Likewise, younger people benefit from having older ‘mentors’ that bring a wealth of life experiences to the relationship and an environment that encourages the development of greater confidence and skills for employment.
Bene’s successful intergenerational programs help to break down the physical and social barriers between generations and support both younger and older people to feel more connected and valued in our communities. If you are an individual, school or a community organisation that would like to take part in our intergenerational programs, we would love to hear from you.
Corporate Volunteering
Corporate volunteering can provide your staff with valuable opportunities to develop new skills and perspectives, and work in different team environments. These shared experiences foster team building and greater staff engagement, while offering older people in our communities opportunities for enhanced social connectedness, skills learning and exposure to new ideas that keep them in touch with an ever-changing world. If your organisation would like to take part in our corporate volunteering programs including social and lifestyle activities, gardening and maintenance programs, and supporting Bene’s event team, we would welcome the opportunity to tailor a program for your organisation.
Culturally and Linguistically Diverse
Bene takes pride in building connections with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities through an exchange of skills, ideas and experiences that encourages a greater appreciation for cultural traditions and values. We also recognise the many benefits that CALD volunteers bring to our organisation in enhancing cross-cultural communication and awareness among our staff, volunteers and the wider Bene community. At Bene, we believe the strength in our diversity is key to providing the kind of tailored care and services that we all deserve.

As a volunteer at Bene assisting the Lifestyle team, I believe I receive more than I give. Some residents I work with are hearing or vision impaired, and I enjoy the challenge of coming up with suitable but engaging and enjoyable activities. Their smiles and the satisfaction I get are my reward. Read more.
